Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! Yes, Sancreed House Retreat is one year old, and you were a part of it! So let’s start with what matters: thank you!! We wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t trusted us for your holidays, we couldn’t be happier with the way our first year went – more like “flew” to be honest!
So what’s new you ask? We have launched our new website sancreedhouse.com, fully redesigned to show the real experience of Sancreed House Retreat, our offers, and hopefully making it easier to book as well.
We’ve continued our pursuit for excellence and comfort, constantly updating our decor and amenities throughout the house, the cottages and even the pool house! As part of that, we’re excited to announce that we’re opening our new Sancreed Suite – King bedroom with en-suite shower, plus a full living room with en-suite bath. Yes, two rooms, two bathrooms – even two TVs! It’s our little gem and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
We’ve added secondary glazing to all our bedrooms, making it a lot cosier in the colder months and also reducing the condensation that is very common in this part of the world, and in 200-year-old houses…
As part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, we’ve fixed the pre-existing thermal-solar system, which now heats water for the main house as well as the pool! In addition we’ve installed solar panels to help us with all the pumps, heaters, machinery and ovens that run through the day (those cakes and muffins won’t cook themselves!)
West Penwith is a privileged area surrounded by spectacular landscapes and scenic views, which has inspired many artists to make it their home. It has been our intention from the very first day to connect with that community and make Sancreed House a space for artists to engage and showcase their work, so we feel very honoured to have the artist Penny Rumble inaugurate our gallery space in Sancreed House. Her work will be on display for everyone to enjoy – and purchase too!
Our menu has also been getting an upgrade – the new pecan waffles with caramel sauce are a must! Not to mention the updated Sancreed sausages – caramelised onion, apple & roasted fennel… need I say more? Because we’ll be offering complementary tea & cake during the afternoon, too.
Additionally, we have state-of-the-art e-bikes to rent, as well as dinner platters in case you feel like a night in, picnic baskets to enjoy a meal out (even if it’s just in the back garden), and a great selection of new beverages. You can see more details on our extras page.
